Thomas Malet

Sir Thomas Malet (1582–1665) was a judge, Solicitor general to Queen Henrietta Maria and a politician.[1] His home was in Poyntington, but he inherited lands in Somerset known as St Audries.[2] His wife was Susan Mills.

He was imprisoned in the Tower of London in 1642 for two years during the English Civil War. He lost his second son Baldwin Malet to the Parliamentarians when Baldwin was 20. Malet was rewarded with a patent of baronetcy by Charles II but it was never given the royal seal as Malet died in 1665 leaving the estate to his son John.
